The Neti pot is Ayruveda’s remedy for seasonal allergies.
Cleansing and protecting our breathing nasal passages is essential for our well being & has played a vital role in both yoga & Ayurveda for thousands of years,
The Neti pot is designed as a handheld ceramic, metal or plastic pot, similar to a tiny tea pot, in which one puts a basic recipe of warm salt water (non iodised salt, think sea salt or Himalaya salt) to rise the nasal passages and sinus area.
By keeping this area well cleansed and lubrictaed, irritation from seasonal allergies are kept to a minimum by cleansing the nasal passages of collected pollen and irritants. Ayurveda recommends as little as 3x per week to rinse w Neti or daily if the condition is anything more than mild during allergy season.
Neti usually does not interfere with allergy medications however if you use a nasal spray it is best to use Neti BEFORE you're spray.
*As always consult with your Doctor before making any changes to your healthcare routine.
Neti has reported positive effects in other areas too such as relief from migraines, nose bleeds due to dry nasal passages, mental fatigue and mental stress.
It can feel new and somewhat uncomfortable when you first begin to use a Neti Pot and it may take some practice to get it right however the benefits are well worth the effort.
A quick google search will offer some videos on proper technique.
