Summer into Autumn, Rose infused oil

What a beautiful way to carry some of summer with us into the colder months of the year.  Make a rose infused oil!

An absolute favorite method of mine and very simple way of making a rose infused oil is to dry some rose peatals from your summer garden in the sun or purchase a bag of dry rose buds, place your dried rose petals/ buds in a sterilised glass jar ( mason jars work welll ) and fill it with a carrier oil. the size of the jar will depend on how many rose petals / buds you have chosen to use.

Be sure there are no rose buds/petals left uncovered. The carrier oil should rise just above the dry flower matter. ( Jojoba is my oil of choice, it can be used on both body and the face )

Close the lid and leave it in a cold and dry place for about four weeks. Next, strain the herbal material through a soft cloth to get a lovely rose infused oil. Pour back into your original airtight jar or a small brown glass dropper bottle.

You can then use this oil as is on the face or body, make a beeswax salve for cuts and scrapes OR luscious body butter for sensitive PITTA skin.

Rose soothes both the skin and the heart chakra. It combines well with a few drops of sandalwood essential oil and is a one of the key ingredients in my rose / sandalwood ubtan. ( body scrub )
